About the Role

We are currently seeking a talented individual to join us full-time in a hybrid operating model, allowing for flexibility and work-life balance. In this role, you will play a vital part in supporting our Onshore HSER team, contributing to our mission of ensuring incident and injury-free outcomes for our dedicated employees and contractors.
As a HSER Support Specialist, you'll have the opportunity to collaborate closely with our Onshore Upstream stakeholders, fostering strong and productive relationships. Key accountabilities include:
- Proactively collaborating with the Onshore HSER Team to enhance relevant procedures and implement HS SMS requirements for Onshore business
- Advising Santos field supervisors on the use of Santos Health and Safety systems
- Participating in safety leadership field visits across Onshore Upstream operations and perform critical control verifications for life-saving rules
- Supporting and developing audits
- Staying updated on HSER legislation and communicating relevant requirements and implications to employees
- Advising stakeholders on standards and practices for Health and Safety, referencing both Santos policies and requirements as well as legislation within regional jurisdiction
- Contributing to incident investigations to identify causal factors and root causes and offering recommendations for Santos to learn from incidents
- Advising and supporting frontline leaders in the role out of Santos Health and Safety initiatives
- Participating and supporting emergency response activities in the field
- Influencing frontline leaders, to develop their HSER knowledge and skillset, through formal and informal learning opportunities
- Assisting in the development of assurance plans
About you
To be successful in this role you will have the following key skills and experience:
- Previous experience in a health and safety role, ideally within oil and gas, mining, construction, production or industrial environment
- Experience in managing contractors to company HSER compliance
- Emergency and incident investigation and response
- Risk management
- Health and Safety Assurance
- Strong communication and influencing skills, to impact behaviours and attitudes towards HSER, within a high-risk environment
- Intermediate skills in HSER data maintenance and reporting
Ideally, you will also hold tertiary qualifications, and/or strong industry experience within a similar HSER role.
